To Be or Not To Be...Natural

Ladies going natural is not just a decision being made, or a change taking course, but it is a process that takes a whole new state of mind to endure. Once you have consciously made the decision to go natural, to leave the chemicals behind you and allow your inner strength to come forth lol it can be a wonderful thing. First we have to deal with the struggle of the different challenges of transition. Transition can be very uncomfortable. We first have to face our fear of "THE BIG CHOP!" Once we have decided to get rid of the dead weight (so to speak) and give life to the part of our hair we want to grow and thrive, we have conquered half the battle. We may find for a while that our hair is dry and unmanageable but this is where finding the right products come into play. Keeping a good moisturizer handy is a good solution. We need to also consider that the more we shampoo our hair the less of our natural essential oils we have. The goals is to keep our hair moisturized as much as possible and to be careful not to strip it by over-shampooing. Once we see there is beginning to be a build up on the hair, this is a good time to shampoo. Shampoos made with ingredients such as Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil and gentle balance or sulfate free shampoos are good for us "Natural-ites". Deep conditioning treatments are a must and often times I tell my clients to let their natural hair "run free", no protective styling, no blow drying, no taming at all... Let it all hang out. When our hair is free to breath it makes less tension and stress on the hair which absolutely promotes healthy growing hair.
